Description
After observing the snow filled Alborz range in Iran, they brought their skis from Europe and spent the winters touring and skiing. Each trick used on the slopes would be to the delight and amazement of the spectators, composed mostly of the rustic community. This group usually preferred the Dizin, Firooz Kooh, Shemshak, Haji Abad (25 km North West of Tehran), Sepidan and Pooladkaf districts.
Vacation tour itinerary
Day 1, TEHRAN:
Arrive in Tehran. Sight seeing in the city. Spend first night at beautiful Alpine Lodge on lower slopes of Alborz Mountain (45 minute hike).
Day 2, TOCHAL SKI RESORT:
All day ski tour to summit of Tochal (3962m). Ski down within short hike to Lodge. Spend night at Lodge.
Day 3, TOCHAL - DIZIN SKI RESORT:
Ski tour to Tochal up same route, ski other side of Tochal to a village. Drive to Dizin ski resort and spend the night.
Day 4, DIZIN SKI RESORT:
Lift skiing at Dizin. Nice powder conditions are possible.
Day 5, DIZIN SKI RESORT:
Ski in Dizin ski resort.
Day 6, ISFAHAN:
Drive to the ancient city of Isfahan. Visit historical sites.
Day 7, ISFAHAN:
City tour of Isfahan. Drive back to Tehran.
Day 8, DAMAVAND:
Drive to a village on the foothills of Damavand. There will be sightseeing and hot springs. Spend the night in the village lodge.
Day 9, DAMAVAND:
First day of hiking on Damavand. Gear will be carried by porters. Overnight at first Hut.
Day 10, DAMAVAND:
Climb on skis to second Hut at 4100 meters.
Day 10, DAMAVAND:
Day ski tours and around the Hut. Early turn-in for next day's summit attack.
Day 11, DAMAVAND:
Highlight of the trip. Start in darkness for summit attempt. Coldest day of the trip. We climb and ski down a 40 degree slope. Ski to Hut.
Day 12, DAMAVAND:
We ski and hike down to the village. After a hot spring session Transfer to Tehran.
Day 13, TEHRAN:
Sightseeing in Tehran and drive to airport. |
